Sentence frames are essential scaffolds for helping English language learners in our classrooms access the English language more easily. They help students determine what is important in a lesson or conversation – what they need to focus their energy on. They also make it easier for students to capture their thinking and contribute to discussions using academic language. They also serve as a bridge to transferring this language into their speaking and writing.
My colleague Alma Ortiz-Agib and I explain how to create strong SENTENCE FRAMES in a new post at middleweb.com. (Thank you for clicking AGAIN to see this 😉 In the next few weeks, we will have a follow-up post (on middleweb.com) describing how we can support our ELLs with strong SENTENCE STEMS as they collaborate.
Hope this helps.
